The Big Wood
Gord and his new company are embarking on one of the biggest Heli-logging Project's ever by flying millions of dollars worth of prize Cedar an unprecedented 6 miles from forest to drop zone.
Airlifting the logs is the giant twin rotor, $15,000 per hour Chinoook heavy-lift helicopter (the most powerful logging helicopter in the world). So when Cleaver is asked to climb and top a monster Red Cedar almost 200 feet tall, 25 feet around, and valued at $50,000, there is no room for error... for him or the project.
The Greenhorn and the Beast
Gord and his team take on the difficult job of harvesting 400 tall trees in just one week. For Gord, safety is the most important part of his job as boss.
He has seen too many of his fellow loggers hurt or killed in the field and wants to make sure his guys come home safe each night. He relies on Wes "The Greenhorn" and Jim "The Beast" to take on the vital First Aid positions. But when The Beast goes down with an injury and The Greenhorn starts to show his true colors, the project's completion looks to be in real jeopardy.
Widowmaker
Gord's climbers are family men who understand that every time they gear up and hit the trees they may never see their families again.
Now, the crew plans to return to the multi-million dollar Brittain River project in order to climb a new grove of extremely valuable Cedar trees. But after a fellow logger is nearly killed by a falling branch "Widowmaker", they each take whatever steps they can, from the superstitious to the practical, to make sure they not only stay on schedule, but just stay alive.
Heavy Lifting Required
The testosterone filled world of Heli-logging gets a new look when Gord and his crew team up with a female heavy-lift helicopter pilot in order to harvest a block of trees.
Gord, Robyn and Cleaver are back in Brittain River to harvest a new block of trees in just 3 days. From the get-go the three Heli-loggers face constant obstacles: from deadly snags to faulty equipment to fog, forcing them way behind schedule. Waiting in the wings to fly the wood out is Karen Trimmer, the only female heavy lift helicopter pilot in Canada, and unless the guys are able to get back on schedule the only flight she will be taking is the one home.
The New Greenhorn
Gord hires a new Greenhorn to help work on an eco-sensitive logging job, but when the job starts to fall behind, will the rookie climber be able to step up and shed his Greenhorn colors?
The Clowhom Project, which Gord's company has been hired to undertake, has two vital requirements: finish the job on time, and most importantly, keep any part of the trees they are logging from falling into a nearby stream in order to protect the ecosystem. It sounds easy enough, until the boys fly in and see that the area they are climbing in has some of the steepest, toughest terrain they have ever worked on. While Gord is on another job testing his veteran fallers on cutting down the big wood, the climbers are breaking in an eager new Greenhorn, Chris, who like any new hire could help put the project over the top or possibly bring the entire project down.
Dangerous Ground
The eco-conscious job at Clowhom wraps up, and the crew goes home. But when the multi-million dollar heavy lift helicopter moves the airlift date up by weeks, the crew has to jump into action to make sure the project doesn't go bust.
The difficult Clowhom job continues with Gord's crew working feverishly to complete the project on time and without disrupting the delicate eco-system. Upon completing the logging portion of the project, Robyn returns him to join Jim "The Beast" on what is Jim's first climbing job since he broke his ribs a few weeks back. But Robyn soon gets a phone call from Gord saying that the Vertol heavy-lift helicopter is no longer coming to harvest the rest of the Clowhom wood in a few weeks as scheduled, rather it will arrive that very day... so Robyn and Cleaver need to head out immediately to meet it. And since they are a 1-hour floatplane and a 20 km truck ride away; the only question is will they make it?
Big Wood, Big Finish
Brittain River has been the largest and riskiest job in Gord Closson's career. It is the home stretch, and they are harvesting big wood in the last block at Brittain River.
The multi-million dollar Brittain River Project is wrapping up as the crew has one more area of big wood to harvest. But expensive delays soon arise caused by bad weather and mechanical problems with the helicopter. When they finally do get back on track, climber Kurtis Brown takes on one of the biggest trees of his career while Cleaver turns his attention from climbing to quickly getting home to his pregnant wife and young son... So in this world where one misstep or moment of inattention can cost a man his life, the biggest concern is no longer will they get the project done, rather will they all make it out in one piece.
Gord To The Rescue
After his crew completes one more in a string of heli-logging jobs, they hit one of the worst economic downturns in logging history. When a big job does finally come their way, Gord does whatever he can to make sure this new job is not their last.
Gord's new company is feeling the pain. His crew of loggers must do whatever they can to make ends meet: from residential climbing to electrical work. So when Gord gets a call to start a new job, his team jumps to the ready. It seems another logging company has clear-cut an area, causing a potential environmental problem that could contaminate a neighboring town's water supply. Gord and his guys can help alleviate the potential disaster by doing what they do best... climb trees. But in Gord's absence, when the quality of work slips and the job starts to fall behind schedule, Gord has no choice but to put on the spurs and try to rescue the project from going under.
Calling All Climbers
Running a new heli-logging business requires a lot of his time, but Gord promises to spend more time with his family. After staring a new job and testing new climbers to help out, it becomes clear this is one promise, Gord may not be able to keep.
Balancing a new business and a new family is tough on Gord. In order to spend more time at home, he sends Robyn and Kurtis out to test two potential new climbers as possible hires; a job he would normally want to do himself. When a new climbing job arises and Gord finds himself back in the trees, he must once again spend more time away from his family. While up in one of the trees, his wife Sarah calls with a family emergency and the work/family-balancing act continues on... but, will Gord be able to keep his footing?
The Grand Finale
Gord starts a new job: 60 trees in 2 days with the Vertol helicopter arriving on day 3. But when one of his climbers gets hurt, Gord teams up with best friend Robyn and figure out a way to keep his new job and his new company afloat.
The 4-year anniversary of Gord's company is closing in. He marks the occasion with a new climbing job that has another tight deadline, prepping a block of trees in 2 days for the heavy lift helicopter. But on Day 1 when Jim "The Beast" , sprains his ankle preventing him from working, best friends Gord and Robyn must team up for the first time ever and make sure they get the job done. And because Gord has stayed in business for 3 years living by the motto, "You are only as good as your last job," he can only hope that this suddenly shorthanded job is not his last.
